taxiGUIDE.in is an online car rental service available across 75 cities in India. Our service enables customers to search for car rental/hire options, compare vehicle type, price points, make an informed choice and proceed to make an online reservation.

Do you also assist in booking taxi services?

No. Currently, our service is focused on the car rental segment only. We have plans of providing the convenience of booking a taxi in your city of residence later. Please check our website from time to time for developments.

What is a taxi and how is it different from a car rental/car hire?

A taxi is typically a point to point service, or a pick and drop service. These can be hailed on the street or called for by using a telephone. A car rental on the other hand is hiring or renting a car for a certain number of hours/days. Typically, the options provided for the customer are 4 hours, 40 kms, 8 hours 80 km, 1 day and multiple days. In the Indian context, car rental services imply a chauffeur driven vehicle. Self drive options are being provided by international operators such as Hertz, Avis, etc. However, taxiGUIDE.in is focused on chauffeur driven rental cars provided by Indian operators. We will include international operators in the coming days. Pls watch this site for developments.

The key benefit is the elimination of the hassle involved in booking a car rental service today and peace of mind. A customer who is now used booking online for flights, trains and buses can also book a car rental service online The other benefits are:-

� In case you are stood up or let down by your favourite taxi or car rental operator and are stranded without a transportation option,  you can avail a short notice service (currently booking permitted 4 hours in advance which is expected to be brought down to 1 hour in the coming months).

 � If you are travelling to a new city (other than your city of residence), either on work or a holiday and are not familiar with reliable operators in the new city, you can search for operators, vehicle types and prices and make your booking online since we are taking the trouble of verifying the background and infrastructure of each operator before enlisting them.

Why can�t I use my local travel agent or favourite radio taxi?

We recommend that you use the airport taxi in case of a pick up or drop off from/to airport. However, please note that these taxis cannot be rented/hired by you on an hourly basis. If you require a car for making multiple visits and trips within the city, then it is recommended that you either contact your favourite travel agent for the booking or contact taxiguide.in. The advantage of using taxiguide.in over your local travel agent is the flexibility of changing your booking online and/or looking for options in other cities not serviced by your travel agent. taxiGUIDE.in can also assist by providing you back up options in case if a let down by a particular operator which may not be possible with your local travel agent.

Why can't I book from my neighbourhood operator?

Your neighbourhood operator may not have presence in other cities. By using taxiGUIDE.in, you get access to a cross section of operators across cities, vehicles and prices giving you the freedom of choice.

On what basis are operators identified and registered?

We take great care to ensure that the operators you see on our website are reliable and trustworthy. Our due diligence process includes a visit to the operators office and inspection of the vehicles. We normally enlist operators on reference from other reputed operators. There is also a rating process based on customer feedback wherein we monitor the quality of the operator, vehicles and drivers.

Using taxiGUIDE.in

How do I use the services of taxiguide.in?

 

  • � Pls select your home city, within or outside city option, travel date, vehicle type and hit the search button. The results of the search are displayed in the screen.
  • Then select from among the options indicated in the search results page and proceed to the payment gateway page. Upon payment, you will receive a confirmation from our website.

Why do I have to provide the flight/train details at the time of booking?

Providing flight and train timings is optional and is not mandatory for the booking procedure. However, it is strongly recommended that you provide the same for your benefit and convenience. In case of an airport/railway station pick up or drop � providing the flight number or train number will enable your chauffeur to wait for you in the arrival lounge or outside the arrival lounge in case of airports and near the engine or parking area in case of railway stations as the case may be. In case of delays, the chauffeur will check with the airport or railway enquiry and will await your arrival. In case of a drop off to the airport providing the flight details or train details enables the operator/chauffeur to inform you of likely delays in departure, etc.

When will I receive the vehicle and driver details?

We will sms the vehicle number and driver details 2 to 4 hours prior to your departure time. In case you do not receive the same, pls call the customer care number 91 80 4130 7024.

In case I have booked a car rental from the airport or railway station, how will I meet my driver?

We collect your flight or train details in our car rental booking page. In case of a pick up from the railway station the driver will either stay with the vehicle in the parking lot of the railway station and guide you to the same or will be waiting near the station exit with a placard bearing your name. In case of a pick up from the airport, the driver will be waiting with a placard bearing your name near the airport arrival gates. In case you don�t see the driver with the placard, we request you to please call the driver�s mobile number provided to you by SMS from taxiGUIDE.in. On request, drivers can also greet you in the arrival lounge. Since the driver has to pay a certain fee to wait in the arrival lounge, the same will be added to the cost of your trip.

Do I have to pay the entire amount at the time of booking?

No. You need to make an advance of 20% of the total amount at the time of booking. Upon making a reservation, you will receive a base cost estimate for your car hiring. This is not to be construed as the total cost for the trip. The total cost of the trip will depend on your actual usage of the vehicle. For some local visits, you may be required to pay the entire amount upfront.

Are there any other charges that I have to pay?

The charges indicated in our website are the basic charges for renting a car from a particular operator type/operator. While our advance amount includes a service tax component of 10.3% and an online booking charge of 4%, customers will have to pay service tax on the balance amount to the operator. Permit charges, tolls, parking charges, etc are additional and will have to be borne by the customer and payable to the operator at the end of the journey.

How do I settle the balance after my journey?

Post the completion of your trip, the chauffeur will calculate the amount you owe him. You may have this verified from our customer care centre as well in case you have doubts/queries regarding the same. There are 2 modes available for settlement 1. Please deduct the advance amount that you have paid taxiGUIDE.in from this and pay him the balance amount in cash to the driver/chauffeur for which he will give you a receipt. It is advisable to carry a printout of your booking and the advance amount collected on taxiGUIDE.in. In case of any dispute, pls call customer care on 91 88802 34455. 2. Call our customer care on 91 80 4130 7024 and ask for an IVRS payment option currently available for credit card transactions only. You will be connected to the CC Avenue IVRS secure gateway and you may make your payment through your phone. This enables you to avoid making a trip to an ATM to withdraw cash to pay your operator.

Charges and how to read them

 

How should I understand the various charges indicated for various vehicle types. Please clarify for local/within city trips?

Unlike a taxi service, which is point and point and metered, car rentals are a different ball game. An operator/vendors quote will typically read as follows (rates below are indicative and not actual).

Which implies that for hiring a Tata Indigo AC vehicle which is an economy segment vehicle for 4 hours, you will have to pay Rs 500 if you use the vehicle for < = 40 kms (inclusive of the estimated distance from the drop off point to the vendor/operators office/garage).


  • Hours and kilometres are calculated from the operators office as the reference point.
  • Extra hours and extra kilometres are both charged separately and independently.
  • Extra hours apply only after 8 hours while extra kilometres are charged both after 4 hours 40 kms and 8 hours 80 kms.
  • In case you return the car in 4 hours, but travel for an additional 20kms, then your total estimated bill would be in the region of Rs 700 (Rs 500 + Rs 200).
  • In case you return the car within 4 hours, but do not use the vehicle for 40 kms, you will be billed for the entire slab of 4 hours and 40 kms.
  • In case you return the car after 5 hours having covered 40 kms, then your total fare will be Rs 1000/ as operators tend to bill you for the next higher fare type. Some operators may have rates for intermediate fare types, such as 6 hours 60 kms, etc.
  • If the vehicle is used for 12 hours and 96 kms, basic slab rate is charged for 8 hours 80 kms + 4 extra hours + 16 additional kms.
  • Service tax of the operator @ 4.12% will be over and above this fare. In case the vehicle is used beyond 10 p.m, the chauffeur is entitled to BA/TA allowance which is in the region of Rs 200 to Rs 350 depending on vehicle type.

How should I understand the various charges indicated for various vehicle types. Please clarify for outstation trips?

Operators have a minimum distance to be covered for an outstation visit. This varies from operator to operator (200km/225km/250km). Outstation trips are charged at a minimum distance (200/225/250 kms) for a calendar day ending 12.00 midnight. BA/TA Outstation allowance (varies from Rs 200 to Rs 350 per day depending on vehicle type) is payable to a chauffeur for driving upto 10.00 p.m on any given calendar day. Extra overtime driver�s allowance for outstation driving after 10 p.m is to be calculated at 100% of daily outstation BA/TA.  In case you use a vehicle for an outstation visit, you will be either billed for a minimum distance (in case you have not travelled beyond the minimum distance) or the actual distance (in case your journey exceeds minimum distance).

 � For example, if a vehicle is used for 4 days with a minimum distance to be covered of 250 kms and is returned after covering o 876 kms � The billing will be for 1000 kms (4 days * 250 Kms) o 1148 kms � The billing will be for 1148 kms. That is base rate for 1000 kms + additional rate for the 148 kms at the rate per km for the vehicle type. Permit charges, tolls, entry fees, service tax, parking charges are additional. Pls contact customer care in case of queries.

How are payments processed?

Your payments are processed through CC Avenue Payment Gateway which is Verisign certified. CC Avenue, will send your payment to the respective financial institution and as you wait a processing screen is displayed. You cannot cancel the payment at this stage. You will normally receive an approved or declined response from your financial institution within 45 to 60 seconds. If your payment is successful, you will be informed that your payment has been accepted. If your payment is unsuccessful, the service will inform you why your financial institution has declined your payment.

What are the different payment options I have?

Different payment options for making a booking are Credit card , Debit card, Internet banking (34 banks), mobile banking (PayMate and SBI) & Itz Cards.

Currently VISA Cards, American Express, JCB cards are accepted by the CC Avenue payment gateway. Master Cards will be acceptable after November 1st 2010.

Yes, you can cancel a booking.Bookings can be cancelled online 4 hours prior to the scheduled pick up time. If the cancellation is within 4 hours of the scheduled pick up time, we request you to call the customer support center for the same. taxiGUIDE.in provides a 100% refund in case your car does not arrive due to taxiGUIDE.in�s fault or the operator�s fault. For all other cases, no refund is possible.

How do I get a refund?

In case of a no show by the operator, we request you to kindly mail us the details of your booking along with the Booking Reference number to support@taxiguide.in and we will refund the entire advance collected to you. However, since this process is to be initiated via our payment gateway and associated financial institutions, the refund will reflect in your card/account in 10 working days. In case you don�t receive the refund in 10 working days, pls mail us at support@taxiguide.in or call us on 91 80 4130 7024. In all other cases where you make a cancellation online, the refund will reflect in your account/card in 10 working days.
